WASHINGTON – Global warming fears have led to the cancellation or indefinite delay of dozens of proposed coal plants in recent months in almost every corner of the country because of the fuels commonly used to run power plants, none releases more carbon than coal.

Jacob City mayor arrested, suspended by Gov. Crist
The mayor of Jacob City has been arrested in what a Florida Department of Law Enforcement officer called a series of “falsifying documents and a violation of public trust.” Pittman was also suspended from office by Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
Jacob City Mayor Pittman arrested for grand theft
At 12:30 p.m. Friday, the Jackson County Correctional Facility was booking Jacob City mayor David Pittman, after he was arrested earlier that day for charges of grand theft, official misconduct and tampering with a witness; all third-degree felonies.

Graceville considers abandoning road
GRACEVILLE – Residents on 7th Street are asking the Graceville City Commission to close a portion of the road that’s never been used.
Actually according to the city’s attorney, Frank Bondurant, it won’t be a road closure but an abandonment since there’s never been an extension of 7th Street there.
Three inmates questioned in ‘slashing’ incident
The three inmates being questioned in connection with a “slashing” of another prisoner at Apalachee Correctional Institution in Sneads last week were identified by a Department of Corrections official Tuesday.
But the agency, citing federal privacy rules, still refuses to name the man who was hurt.
Malone FFA wins state horse-judging contest
The Malone FFA scored a big honor for their club last weekend, becoming the first team in that chapter’s history to take first place at the state horse-judging contest in Gainesville.
