Teens arrested in burglary case

Two teenaged burglars were chased down and confronted by the owners of the stolen property Wednesday night, and the two confessed after being arrested by deputies responding to a fight between the victims and the suspects, according to authorities with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

More than 43 percent of Jackson County voters came to the polls Tuesday or voted early, the majority rejecting the property tax amendment.

Local voters vote against amendment, but state saying yes

Jackson County voters rejected a constitutional amendment concerning property taxes by a vote of 6,288 against to 4,464 supporting the measure. The vote total was with 24 of 25 boxes reporting. One from the Graceville area remained unreported at press time.

McCain declared winner in Florida

The Associated Press has declared John McCain the winner of the Republican Primary in Florida. In Jackson County, with only 12 of 25 boxes reporting by 8:40 p.m., McCain also led the other Grand Old Party challengers.
