Alabama man indicted for first-degree murder, attempted murder

A Jackson County Grand Jury on Thursday returned a first-degree murder indictment against Danny T. Jackson in the death of Greenwood resident Lonnie Baxter.
The jury also indicted Jackson for attempted first-degree murder of Gianna Simmons.
Jackson, of Gordon, Ala., was arrested shortly after the April 6 shooting that left Baxter dead and Simmons wounded.
Baxter, 47, was found shot to death on the floor of the home he rented at 4357 Dickson Road near Greenwood. Simmons was found critically injured in a bedroom of the home, wounded by approximately 200 pellets of birdshot, authorities said at the time of the incident.
