A Marianna boy suffered minor injuries after riding his bike into the path of a vehicle Thursday, according to authorities.
At about 6 p.m., the 12-year-old boy was traveling east on Pearl Street down a steep hill and could not stop due to his speed and defective brakes, said a report from the Marianna Police Department.
Randall Hatcher of Marianna was traveling south on McPherson Street and attempted to stop to avoid the boy on the bicycle, but the bicycle pulled into the path of Hatcher’s Ford, according to MPD.
The report said the right front of Hatcher’s vehicle struck the left side of the bicycle, causing the boy to be ejected onto the pavement.
The boy was transported to Jackson Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and was then released.
