An attempted traffic stop by Marianna police officers escalated into a westbound chase on Lafayette Street, ending when the pursued motorcycle driver’s vehicle struck a curb, according to a news release from Marianna Police Department.
The wreck occurred in front of Grocery Outlet and sent the motorcycle and driver airborne. The motorcycle struck a car on the left rear, according to the release.
The occupants of the car were not injured. However, the driver of the motorcycle — Justin Kirk Perry of Marianna — was taken to Jackson Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police also recovered more than 20 grams of cannabis at the scene.
According to the police department news release charges are pending against Perry, including fleeing and eluding, willful and wanton reckless driving, and possession of cannabis over 20 grams with the intent to distribute.
