The planning and zoning staff at the city of Marianna has announced the following proposed ordinances to be discussed at two scheduled meetings:

On Monday, May 19, at 4 p.m., the city’s Planning and Zoning Board will conduct a review of four proposed ordinances at the commission chambers in Marianna City Hall.

Proposed Ordinance 955, a proposed amendment to Chapter 22 of the city’s code, addresses citations.

“That’s basically about our nuisance ordinance,” explained planning and zoning director Kay Dennis. “We’re adding citations to a nuisance list for the fire department and code enforcement combined.”

Dennis said the next proposed ordinance, 956 of Chapter 10 of the city code, will make the ordinance that prohibits farm animals within city limits more specific.

Proposed ordinance 957 would bring the property of Ether Peterson Bowers officially into Marianna jurisdiction.

The proposal is to annex the approximate .41 acre parcel on the east side of Gilmore Street into Marianna.

“This came up at the time of the last election. Mrs. Bowers wanted to vote for a police chief, but couldn’t because she lived just outside the city line, which is across the street from her house,” said Dennis. “We (the planning and zoning staff) gladly welcome her to Marianna.”

Dennis said she and her staff also welcome Rosaraie M. Peeler.

Peeler’s property is involved in proposed ordinance 958, which would annex her 12.5 acre parcel on the east side of Jefferson Street.

The ordinances will also be brought before Marianna commissioners at their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 3, at 6 p.m.

More details of the proposed nuisance ordinances, including the one involving farm animals, will be available Friday on http://www.jcfloridan.com.
