Beginning Monday, July 14, and continuing for approximately four days, a section of State Road 276 (SR 276) Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed to through traffic. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in conjunction with the CSX Rail Road plans to replace the existing track and crossing with a new state-of-the-art concrete crossing and new crossing gates. To complete this work, Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed to through traffic at the rail road crossing.
A detour route using US 90 (SR 10), SR 73 south and South Street has been established for through vehicles. The suggested route for commercial vehicles is Interstate 10 (I-10), US 231, US 90 and SR 71 south. This work will improve safety at the crossing for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, according to a DOT press release.
Motorists are reminded to use caution while traveling through the construction zone. Speeding violations double in construction zones when workers are present.
