Some vandalism at Marianna High School has been chalked up to end-of-the-school-year mischief, according to authorities.
According to Jackson County Sheriff’s Maj. John Dennis, the incident, which apparently happened some time Tuesday night, will not be investigated further.
“It’s really not what I would call vandalism because it’s not any permanent damage. Nothing more than mischief,” said Dennis. “It’s just that time of year.
School’s about to be out and, typical of every year, seniors and juniors do something like this.”
The majority of the mischief was focused around the school’s media center.
In chalk, someone wrote, “It feels so good 2 be on top.” On the exterior upper wall of the building.
Plastic forks were stuck into the ground nearby, many of which were later pulled out and tossed into the walkway.
Dennis also said that two of the school’s driver’s education vehicles were loaded with toilet paper.
He said that, while the sheriff’s office does not condone such behavior, charges will most likely not be filed in the incident.
