Two local men are in custody on separate charges related to stolen items and a third man is being sought in one of the cases.
David Bruce Berlin, 27, of 4935 Carousel Loop in Marianna, is accused in the theft of money, jewelry and other personal effects from a home on Old Spanish Trail.
Berlin was identified as a suspect in the case after investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office talked with people in the neighborhood where the theft occurred.
According to a press release from the JCSO, when Berlin was located, he had some of the items stolen in the incident and confessed to the burglary and theft.
Authorities said Berlin also confessed to burglarizing a car at Turner’s Landing around the same time.
He is charged with the burglary of a dwelling and of a conveyance (vehicle), theft, and violation of probation.
According to authorities, Berlin had also been arrested on May 4, when he was “caught in the act” of trying to burglarize a vehicle. He was charged with burglary of a conveyance and theft in that case.
In an unrelated case, authorities report the arrest of Albert “Alpo” Brincefield, who is charged with dealing in stolen property. A warrant is being sought for another person authorities believe may be involved in the crime.
According to a press release from the JCSO, the case involves the sale of items stolen in a burglary on U.S. 231 in Alford.
Suspects were developed in the case when the items were sold, authorities said.
After the victim identified his property, the person who had bought the items identified the persons allegedly involved in the sale of the metal which had been sold to him for scrap, authorities said.
The person being sought on a warrant has not yet been identified by authorities.
