CHIPLEY - Officials at a Chipley City Council meeting Thursday night confirmed that a toll road between Montgomery and Panama City, Fla., was being considered by public and private entities in Alabama and Florida.
Washington County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ted Everett said that public and private officials in Alabama and Florida have been discussing a toll road from the Montgomery area to the Panama City area.
Washington County Commissioner Eddy Holman said the project would cost an estimated $2 billion.
In an interview with the Dothan Eagle after the meeting, Washington County Commissioner Joel Pate said the announcement of the project was scheduled for a May 15 meeting of the Washington County Commission, and the subject would likely be discussed at the May 8 meeting of the Houston County and Geneva County commissions.
