The theft of a truck in Marianna early Tuesday may be related to theft of another reported missing miles away out in the county a few hours later, according to Capt. Bill Bryant of the Marianna Police Department.
Bryant said James Harrison discovered that his 1998 Dodge Ram was missing from his yard at 2838 Miltonia Ave., when he started to leave home around 4 a.m., Tuesday.
Harrison’s truck was found abandoned off Ellaville Road near Campbellton later in the day. Around the same time it was found, county authorities received a report that a white Chevrolet S-10 had been stolen from a location about a half-mile from where the Dodge had been abandoned.
Bryant said that, in addition to the thefts of the two trucks, several items were taken from a car belonging to Harrison’s wife the same morning.
The thief or thieves took about $420 worth of new designer bedding from the trunk of the car and rifled through the front as well, taking some CDs and loose change.
Anyone with information that could assist authorities in either case should call MPD at 526-3125 or the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 482-9624.
