Two arrested on drug possession charges in Marianna
The Marianna Police Department reported the arrest of two Marianna men on drug charges Tuesday.

Marianna tightens animal control, code violation ordinances

The check’s in the mail: Police warn of scams
Authorities are warning Marianna residents to stay cautious of checks in the mail that could end up costing victims thousands of dollars.
According to Marianna Police Chief Hayes Baggett, his department received multiple reports of check scams over Monday and Tuesday.
MPD distributed a news release Tuesday about the scams to alert residents.
Jackson County Commissioners begin budget discussions Wednesday

A Jackson County family is in mourning today following the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident Sunday.
Shady Grove man suspected in attempted armed robbery
A local man was arrested less than two hours after an attempted robbery at Focus Credit Union just west of Marianna late Monday afternoon, according to Major John Dennis of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The gun believed to have been used in the crime was found shortly thereafter.

City returns left-over grant funds to state
