Marianna High School Senior Lance Bailey made it official Tuesday before fellow classmates, team members, coaches and family members that he will move on to the next level of baseball following graduation next week.
Bailey signed with Chipola College in the Media Center at MHS.
Lance has excelled both on and off the field, most recently being the recipient of the salutatorian for Marianna High’s 2008 graduating class.
Bailey has an unweighted .397 GPA and a .447 weighted GPA. Bailey is dual enrolled at Chipola College.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, a Distinguished Bulldog, and an Outstanding Senior.
On the field, Bailey has been a varsity starter since relocating to Marianna in 2005.
He has anchored down second base, shortstop and third with short stints in the outfield when called upon to do so.
Bailey has not committed to a baseball program for the summer but will do so within the next two weeks.
When asked about his signing at Chipola Bailey is all smiles, “I am very excited about this. I can’t wait to get on the field and see what I can do at that level.”
Bailey is the son of Jody and Tresha Bailey and has one younger sibling, Allie Bailey.
Maternal grandparents are Howard and Jill Davis and paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Bailey.
