The Cardinals took an 11-5 win over the Yankees Tuesday in MERE Coach Pitch action at Optimist Park.
It was a four-run top of the fourth inning that blew the game open for the Cardinals, starting with a home run by Marquez Kelly to make it 4-2 Cardinals.
After Kelly’s homer, Jaedan Harley, Kegan Jones and Austin Merritt all reached base and came around to score to give the Cardinals a 7-2 advantage.
The Yankees added three runs of their own over the course of the fourth and fifth innings to draw to within a couple of runs at 7-5.
Kelly responded in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run, his third homer of the game, to make it 9-5 Cardinals.
Chase Meadows added a two-run home run later in the inning, scoring Harley, for the final margin.
Kelly finished the game 3-for-3 with three home runs and five RBI.
Meadows went 2-for-3, while Jones and Tony Hall also picked up two hits.
Harley and Adin Domen joined Kelly with three base hits in three at-bats for the Cardinals.
For the Yankees, Austin Livingston led the way with a home run and two RBI, while Tyrus Dudley also added a home run.
Everett Johnson picked up two singles, while Lane Gullett and Max Olds added doubles.
Dalton Smith, Ryley Lipford and Christian Johnson also collected base hits for the Yankees.
The Cardinals next play today against the Devil Rays at 5 p.m., while the Yankees take the field Friday at 6:45 p.m. against the Mets.
