Rotary 12, Malone 6

In Dixie Majors Ozone League, Tuesday night it was Rotary with a 12-6 win over Malone. 

Heath Roberts, Madison Harrell, Austin Nelson, and Tyler Colson all combined for the win for Rotary. 

Robert Orshall and Daniel Johnson took the mound for Malone.

In the top of the first inning, Orshall retired the first batter before Harrell recorded a ground-ruled double.

A triple by Tyler Colson scored Harrell. 

Roberts drew a walk, stole second to set up Johnathan Mayes two-RBI double.

Austin Nelson singled home Mayes but was out on a fielder’s choice by Evan Wester.

In the bottom of the inning, Roberts took the mound for Rotary and retired the first batter he faced.

Logan Smith reached on an error at short and Orshall took one for the team to put runners at first and second. 

Cody Henson sacrificed the runners to scoring position with both scoring when Antwain Johnson reached on an error in right field. 

Tyler Henry took advantage of an errant throw to reach first and score Johnson.

A walk to Harrison Floyd went for nil as a strikeout ended the inning with the game knotted at three.

In the top of the second inning, Matthew Purvis led off with a bounce-over-the-fence double but three quick outs left him stranded at second.

In the bottom of the inning, Dylan Ranew was robbed of a single on a diving stop by Kody Bryan and throw to Harrell at first for the out.

Seth Blackburn drew a walk and stole second.

With two outs, Austin Lockhart drew a walk to put runners at first and second. 

Harrell came on in relief and struck out the next batter to end the inning with no runs plated.

In the top of the third inning, Rotary rallied for nine runs. Harrell got it going when he reached on an error in right field and scored on a double by Colson.

With two outs, the rally was on.

Colson scored on a single by Mayes who scored on Nelson’s double. Wester singled to score Nelson. 

Purvis walked and moved to second when Tyler Prim singled. Bryan beat out a throw to first to load the bases for Harrell’s base clearing stand up triple.

Colson followed with a single but a strike out ended the rally and the inning.

In the bottom of the third, Austin Nelson came on to pitch. Orshall reached on an error in right field and with one out, Johnson blasted one out of the park to score two.

The next two batters sent grounders to first to end the inning with the game at 12-5.

In the top of the fourth inning, Johnson came on to pitch for Malone.

With two outs, Bo Hughes singled but a strikeout ended the inning.

Colson came on to pitch in the final inning for Rotary.

With two outs, Blackburn was issued a walk, stole second and third but a ground out first ended the game.
