Yankees, Dodgers get wins in AA action

Friday night at Optimist Park, the Yankees picked up their second win in as many games with a 16-4 win over the Devil Rays in Dixie Youth AA action.
The Yankees scored four runs, all with two outs, in the top of the first inning.
Austin Livingston used his speed on a two-strike hit to the fence to touch ’em all for a home run.
Everett Johnson singled with Ryley Lipford joining the home run club and picking up two RBI for a 3-0 Yankees lead.
For the final run of the inning, Dalton Smith used the long ball to the right field fence.
In the bottom of the first, the Devil Rays countered with two runs.
Reece Dillard singled to get things going and Matt Griffin singled to put runners on the corners for Kraven Howell’s RBI single.
With one out, Gavin Hinson singled but the runners were left on the bags when the next two went down.
After one inning of play, the Yankees had a 4-2 lead.
With two outs in the bottom of the third inning, Noah Baxter singled and scored on Joseph Sims RBI single.
The Devil Rays had pulled within one at 4-3.
The Yankees exploded in the top of the third inning with six runs scoring.
Christian Johnson led-off with a double and scored on a sacrifice down the first base line by Lane Gullett.
Austin Livingston singled and scored on Everett Johnson’s triple.
Ryley Lipford picked up an RBI on a single and moved to third on a single by Dalton Smith.
Wesley Pippin padded his stats with an RBI on a single to the right side.
Max Olds followed with a single but three strikeouts followed to end the inning, leaving runners at first and second.
The Devil Rays answered with one run in the bottom of the inning.
With one out, Reece Dillard drove one to the right field fence and rounded the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
Matt Griffin singled but a ground out to first and a strikeout ended the inning with the game at 10-4 after three.
The Yankees plated six runs in their final at bat.
Christian Johnson led-off the inning with a solo shot and Lane Gullett followed with a single.
Austin Livingston picked up his second home run of the inning scoring two.
Everett Johnson and Ryley Lipford singled and scored on Dalton Smith’s second home run of the night.
In the bottom of the frame, with one out, Clay Hunt sent one to right field to Sheridan Padgett but a throw in held the runner to a single.
Two strikeouts followed to end the game at 16-4.
In earlier action Friday night, it was the Dodgers with a 7-5 win over the Mets.
Stats from the game were not available at press time.
AA action is scheduled to continue on Monday at Optimist Park with the Mets taking on the Angels at 5:30 p.m., on field 7.
The Dodgers will face off against the Devil Rays on Field 8 at 5:30 p.m.
