Zaxby’s dealt 7-3 loss by Chattahoochee

Action at Optimist Park continued with every league in action Tuesday night. In the Dixie Boys league, the expansion Zaxby’s were handed a 7-3 loss by visiting Chattahoochee.
Taking the loss for Zaxby’s was Mackenzie Taylor who came on in relief of Adam DeWitt.
DeWitt threw the first two innings, giving up two runs on three hits and issued no walks. Taylor went the final two innings, giving up five runs on four hits and two walks.
Offensively, Zaxby’s countered Chattahoochee’s one run first inning with three of their own. With two outs, Taylor and Chris Johnson drew consecutive walks to load the bases for Sean Henry’s two-RBI double.
In the second inning, Zaxby’s had opportunity but failed to execute any runs. Gavin Shouppe led off with a walk and with two outs moved to second on a walk to Strauss.
A walk to DeWitt loaded the bases but a fielder’s choice by Meadows got Shouppe at the plate. A strikeout ended the inning.

In the nightcap game, Rahal-Miller defeated the visiting Grand Ridge Indians 7-4 behind the pitching of Bradly Middleton. Middleton went four innings, giving up just two earned runs on four hits and four walks and one error behind him.
Jae Elliott came on in relief for the fifth inning, giving up two runs on two hits and one error. On the mound for Grand Ridge was Michael Mader, who took the loss, giving up seven runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks with five errors committed behind him.
Wayne Driggers came on in the final inning, giving up no runs on one hit.
Offensively for Rahal-Miller, Zac Davis led the team, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, followed by Middleton, Rooks and Elliott who were all 1-for-3. Tyler Blanks scored on a lead off walk in the second inning. Patrick McClain was 3-for-3 on base with two hits and a walk, while Garrett Harris tripled and scored. Mader had an RBI double, while Green picked up a single.

On the road, Barnes Tire picked up a 6-1 win over Chipley Augustason.
Winning pitcher was Ryan Riley who went the distance, giving up one run on three hits and striking out nine.
Offensively, Barnes Tire was led by Kyle Griffin who was 3-for-3, followed by Chris Godwin who was 2-for-3. Ryan Hughes and Zack Johnson each added a double.

In Dixie Youth AA action, the Cubs defeated the Mets 8-6. Leading the Cubs in offense was Brolin VanHuss who was 3-for-3 with a triple, followed by Nevin VanHuss who matched his 3-for-3, including a double.
Also going 3-for-3 was Lane Roberts, followed by Pender Johnson, 2-for-3 including a home run and Aryan Charles who was 2-for-3. The Mets were led by Riley Torbett who was 2-for-2. Carter Cass, Austin, Loren Walden, Travis Moose and Gunner Nebel were all 1-for-2 on the evening.
In Dixie Majors, Rotary defeated Farm Bureau 15-1. Winning pitcher for Rotary was Tyler Colson who went the distance of three innings, giving up one run on two walks, one hit batter, and allowed one base runner to reach on an error, while striking out seven of the 15 batters he faced. Steven Miller took the loss with Tristen Tharpe coming on in relief in the third inning.
Madison Harrell and Colson led Rotary offensively, going 2-for-2 with two RBI’s each, followed by Heath Roberts who was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Austin Nelson was 1-for-1, followed by Kody Bryan, Bo Hughes, Evan
Wester and Matthew Purvis who were all 1-for-2. Purvis also had two RBIs and Bo Hughes had one RBI.

In Dixie Youth Softball action the Kiwanis handed Zaxby’s a 12-2 loss.
Winning pitcher for Kiwanis was Breanna Golden who went three innings with Reagan Oliver pitching one.
Bailey Maddox pitched for Zaxby’s.
Leading the Kiwanis is hitting was Madison Gullett who was 3-for-3 on the night, followed by Caitlyn Carpenter who went 2-for-2 with a walk.
Faith Moore was 2-for-2, followed by Willis and Oliver who were both 1-for-2 with a walk. Marlena Smith was 1-for-3. Zaxby’s recorded no hits on the night.
