Action continues in Dixie Belles play

Action continues in recreational ball across the county with Tuesday night’s Dixie Belles matchup pitting Marianna’s Tommy’s Glass against Ducky Johnson’s Grand Ridge Belles.

Grand Ridge took a 13-4 win over the visiting Marianna Belles.

A one-out walk by Allie Brockner was the only offense for the Marianna team in the first inning with Grand Ridge going three up, three down in their half of the frame.

Ann Renegar drew a two-out walk in the second inning followed by Shawna Donofro who took one for the team to put runners on the corners. A strikeout ended the inning with the runners stranded.

Grand Ridge had a single by B. Williams with two outs but could not execute a run.

Grand Ridge retired the side on three strikeouts in top of the third. Grand Ridge exploded offensively for six runs in the third inning. Ashlen Wilson singled and Jenna Sneads followed with a walk. Joni Bonine and Cambridge Chason singled with Erin Williams picking on an RBI when she was issued a base on balls. Jordan Thigpen joined the hit parade with a single. B Williams reached on an error driving in the sixth run of the inning.

In the fourth, Marianna’s Tommy Glass countered with three runs. Patrea Clark walked and moved to second on a walk to Cassandra Pereda. Jennifer Hewett singled to load the bases. Brocker’s fielder’s choice got Clark at home. A single by Brandi Wright scored two. With one out Kristi Folds drew a walk and a passed ball scored another before the inning ended on a strikeout.

Grand Ridge’s Ducky Johnson’s Belles added two runs in the fourth inning. Eron Williams singled followed by a walk to Micah Williams. Savannah Owens singled and B Williams doubled home two.

Renegar and Donofro walked to lead off the fifth inning with Renegar picking up the final Marianna run on a passed ball. Grand Ridge put the game away in their half of the frame. Shelby Lawrence drew a walk and Chason doubled her home. Laura Williams took one for the team and Micah Williams loaded the bases with a walk. A single by Gainer scored two and Williams singled in the final run to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule.
