Cubs outlast Angels 17-14

The Dixie Youth AA Cubs took sole possession of their league Monday night with a 17-14 win over the Angels.
Both teams entered Monday night’s game with just one loss.
The Cubs plated four runs in the first inning. Aryan Charles led off with a single and moved to third on a single by Turner Seay.
With one out, Pender Johnson singled to score Charles and put runners on the corners.
Lane Roberts had a two-RBI triple and scored on a single by Chrishawn Dozier.
The Angels countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Sydnee Goodson doubled and scored on a double by Hunter Mitchell.
Callen Bozeman touched ’em all as he homered to score two.
In the top of the second inning, David Solomon singled and scored when Jacquez Gainer and Aryan Charles put together back-to-back singles.
In the bottom of the inning, the Angels tied the game at five with two runs scoring.
Devin Tindell singled and moved to third with one out on a single by Colby Dryden.
Corinthans Guilford singled to score Tindall but Dryden was out on trying to take third on the play. Charles Curry, Same Wiggins and Sydnee Goodson put together a string of singles to score one additional run.
The Cubs picked up three runs in the third inning.
A lead-off double by Turner Seay got things going and with one out, Pender Johnson doubled home Seay.
Lane Roberts singled to score Johnson and Chrishawn Dozier’s single scored Roberts.
The Angels countered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third.
Hunter Mitchell doubled and with one out scored on a single by Wesley Rogers.Mason Young tripled to score Rogers and Devin Tindall’s single scored Young.
Blake Donaldson singled but Tindall was out trying to take third.
A ground out to third ended the inning with the game knotted at eight.
The Cubs rallied for two runs with two outs in the fourth inning. Jacquez Gainer doubled and scored on a singled by Seth Corbin. Aryan Charles then singled home Corbin.
Sam Wiggins picked up the only hit of the inning for the Angels in their half of the frame to make it a 10-8 game after four complete innings.
The Cubs plated three runs in the fifth inning. Pender Johnson got the rally started with a single and scored on a double by Lane Roberts who crossed the plate on a double by Chrishawn Dozier. Nevin VanHuss joined the doubles club with an RBI double to score Dozier.
Not to be outdone, the Angels answered with five runs to take a 14-13 lead. Sydnee Goodson picked up her third hit of the night with a single and scored on a double by Hunter Mitchell.
Callen Bozeman picked up an RBI on a double to score Mitchell. With one out, Bryce Martin doubled to score Bozeman. A double by Mason Young scored
Martin but Tindall was out trying to score on a single by Devin Tindall. Tindall scored on an overthrown ball for the final run of the inning.
The Cubs rallied in the sixth with four runs. Aryan Charles and Brolin VanHuss singled and scored on a double by Pender Johnson.
Lane Roberts made it a 4-for-4 night with a run-scoring triple.Chrishawn Dozier singled to score Roberts for the final run of the inning.
Corinthans Guilford singled to start things off for the Angels, but with one out, Guilford was out trying to take third on a single by Sam Wiggins.
A ground out to first ended the inning.
Games are scheduled to continue Thursday at Optimist Park with first pitch slated for 5:30 p.m.
