Grand Ridge shuts out Zaxby’s 10-0

In Dixie Boys action, the Grand Ridge Indians handed Zaxby’s a 10-0 shutout in Grand Ridge Tuesday night.
Zaxby’s coach Clay Wells sent Devin Ranew to the mound.
Indians coach Wayne Edenfield countered with Austin Branch.
In the top of the first inning, J.T. Meadows doubled and stole third base before Mackenzie Taylor followed with a single to the outfield.
But a throw from Wayne Driggers to Aaron Green nailed Meadows trying to score to end the inning.
Grand Ridge picked up one run in the bottom of the second inning.
Green doubled to start things off and moved to third on a sacrifice by Branch.
Blake Edenfield laid a bunt down the first base line to score Green before a strikeout ended the inning.
Grand Ridge added another run in the third inning.
With one out, Driggers tripled and scored when Brandon Moats reached on an error on the catcher to make it a 2-0 game after three.
Grand Ridge picked up one run in the fourth.
Patrick McClain led off with a walk and stole second.
A sacrifice by Michael Mader moved McClain to third and he scored on an errant throw from the catcher.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Grand Ridge added four runs to blow the game open.
Seth Craven led off with a triple and scored on a single by Rontravious Brown, who took second and third on the fielding error before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Austin Lombardo.
Driggers then singled and scored on a triple by Moats, who scored on a double by Garrett Harris before a ground out to short by McClain ended the inning.
Grand Ridge added three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before the game was called on the 10-run mercy rule.
With one out, Green singled and stole second, then Branch singled to move Green to third.
Green then stole home on a passed ball. Edenfield singled to score Branch and Craven’s single put runners on the corners.
Brown drew a walk to load the bases for Lombardo’s RBI single to score Edenfield to end the game.
Games were scheduled to continue at Optimist Park Thursday evening. Results of those games were not available at press time.
