Alford is a small town, but it’s right on a big, busy corridor that takes tourists down to the beaches. For that reason alone it’s in an enviable position and a grassroots organization there is doing what it can to help Alford make the most of the advantage of being on U.S. 231.
Peggy Mills founded the Alford Community Organization in 2007, in honor of her husband, Dewey R. Mills Jr. He died in 2005 after a year-long battle with cancer.
