A man who allegedly tried to hide his cocaine stash by laying the package on the ground beside a police cruiser didn’t fool the officer on duty; the individual was charged with tampering with physical evidence, violation of probation and trespass after warning before his encounter with law enforcement was done, according to a press release from the Marianna Police Department.

According to the release, Delano Montez Pittman, 32, was in a group of four men the officer had approached after being dispatched to Marianna Garden Apartments on reports that the men were selling drugs near one of the buildings in the complex. As the officer started gathering identifying information on the men, Pittman told the officer that he didn’t have his ID on him. Pittman walked past the front of the patrolman’s cruiser, and moved on toward the passenger side of the car, the officer reported. The patrolman noted that Pittman crouched down beside the passenger side of the cruiser, then stood back up and walked back toward the front of the cruiser.
